About Us

Flowerheart's journey started many years ago when Charlotte Boonzaaier bought a flower shop in Cape Town - It has been a crazy roller coaster ride of scented roses, messy floors, and tired feet.

I'm Marlize, Charlotte's daughter and I was still at school when I started helping out at the shop – this experience opened up many opportunities for me, working first at a flower wholesaler and also at a creative flower boutique for many years before rejoining my mom in a new shop called Flowerheart. The experience and guidance I've obtained from the people that I have worked with have been invaluable and I am forever grateful for their wisdom and patience.

Flowerheart is situated in the heart of Durbanville, a serene little town surrounded by farmlands. Flowerheart forms part of a little community of creative shops all bundled together in one old house. Our neighbors, Chizel and Chalk, and The Vintage Collectable ensure for great conversation and curious finds.

As for our flowers, we will let them do the talking. We have a natural approach to design and strive to supply the best quality available. The love of textures, color and the natural beauty of the materials we work with is expressed in our work. Our daily ritual includes changing water, washing buckets and vases to ensure long lasting blooms.

Without the rest of our team we certainly are lost - Sharon, our florist, has grown with us from the very beginning of Flowerheart and Wani, our driver, is a calm oasis that delivers the flower arrangements throughout the northern suburbs of Cape Town. Other than the two of them you will find Jacques (my brother) and occasionally the guy in the corner, my father.

We continue to build good relationships with our customers and make new friends daily. We realize the importance of these relationships, as we deal not only with flowers but with people and their emotions.

Whether you need flowers to make someone smile, a small intimate occasion, a sculptural arrangement as high as a warehouse, or wedding flowers; our team will be there to assist you from concept to reality. We enjoy the opportunity to dream, conceptualize and tailor-design wedding flowers to suit the individuals' needs from start to finish.

This is our confession, our affair with flowers - Like the great impressionist painter Monet said, “I must have flowers, always, always.”
